TMLP has a long and proud history of giving back to the communities it serves in a number of ways. If it makes sense for the broader good of the community, TMLP employees are generally elbow deep in supporting ‘the cause.’ Casual-for-a-Cause Fridays come with a $5 price tag…all proceeds (totaling $14,565 during 2009) go to charitable organizations such as St. Vincent de Paul, Citizens for Citizens, United Way, Special Olympics, Taunton Boys and Girls Club, Easter Seals, Homes for our Troops, our Project Best Partner, the Walker School (which is slated to close its doors in 2010 after serving the local community for over a century). In addition, the TMLP supports the Taunton Christmas Parade and the Mayor’s Worthy Cause Fund.
Personal time and resources factor into many of the “off-hours” commitments our employees make. Some choose to work with the business community with such organizations as the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce, the Heart of Taunton, Taunton Development and Weir Corps. Others work directly with high school students, during the school day, mentoring them for life after high school and judging science fairs. Needless to say, the rest of the employee involvement at the TMLP runs the spectrum, from coaching and sponsoring local teams to teaching Junior Achievement classes and heading up Saturdays on sports talk radio, or participating with local theater and dance productions and assisting with the lighting of local ball fields. We read to elementary students on Dr. Seuss’ birthday and we give plant tours upon request.

TMLP funded a BP Solar Project: $29,065 for a 2.3kW array and weather station, in partnership with New England Breeze and Heliotronics and the students got hands-on experience with the actual preparation of the building and installation.
