Energy Supply & Planning department continued to maintain Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant's competitive rates by tracking and monitoring the demand and building an environmentally responsible, cost-effective and diverse energy supply portfolio. The year included working with several large industrial customers to reduce their load. These Rate 31i customers save money by managing their load at peak times. The addition of load following contracts enabled Energy Supply & Planning to reduce the risk of high priced power in the fourth quarter.

The department further strengthened TMLP's foundation by maintaining relationships with fuel and power suppliers and fostering new relationships to ensure economical costs and reliability. TMLP entered into 10 solar net metering agreements during the year which accounted for an additional connected supply of 69.16 kilowatts, and a 3MW solar farm in Berkley. In addition, Energy Supply & Planning successfully transitioned to a cleaner form of fuel for the Cleary Flood Station.
