The past year, 2015, was one of progression for TMLP, a year in which reorganization was directly impacted by the retirements of several key managers who had a combined total of more than 120 years of experience. The seamless reorganization was aided by succession planning that started several years ago in anticipation of the retirements. As a result, operations were streamlined to further enhance efficiency and service throughout the utility.
The major projects that were completed in 2014 and early 2015, including the activation of a fourth solar farm and the major upgrade of Unit 9 at the Cleary Flood Station, have set TMLP on a forward path that will lead the way for future enhancements to the station and additional solar resources. Groundwork for the addition of a fast-start peaking unit at Cleary Flood and evaluation of a community solar farm were initiated during the year, two projects which will lead to the reduction of emissions by using clean energy sources.
TMLP continued to build an environmentally responsible and diversified energy supply portfolio through the acquisition of renewable energy and environmentally sensitive energy sources. Significant progress was also made at the West Water Street station as TMLP moves forward with distributed generation. A total of 27 residential solar projects were completed in a -12-month period, resulting in an additional $121,500 in solar rebates, while 12 interruptible rate (Rate 31i) customers saved $675,000 by diverting load during peak operating hours in 2015. More than 500 residential and commercial customers took advantage of TMLP's appliance rebate and energy audit programs. Significant progress was also made in securing real-time meters for Key Account customers to view load profiles to take advantage of rate structures and opportunities. The Cleary Flood station continued to meet the electric needs of TMLP throughout the year by experienced an unprecedented runtime during the year.
TMLP worked with the City of Taunton on several projects including service enhancements to the stadium at Taunton High School and Internet and phone upgrades in City offices and schools. A buildout of the disaster recovery system was also completed to ensure quick response in the event of a major interruption and to enhance the level of hands-on service to Internet customers.
TMLP staff generously donated to charitable organizations and community events throughout the year, and continued TMLP's partnership with the Leddy School. Staff volunteered time and resources to many community and civic organizations, participated in fundraising events and activities, and supported community events by hanging 11 promotional banners as well as holiday lights for organizations.
