During the past decade, the power industry has undergone significant change, driven by customer preferences and needs, changing technology, increasing regulation, and a changing workforce. TMLP has adapted to this change by being flexible and responsive to its customers, not only by diversifying its energy portfolio and increasing available opportunities like solar power, but also by focusing on energy efficiency and reliability, enhancing business practices, and having programs in place that encourage customer satisfaction.

TMLP monitors this satisfaction with a biennial customer survey that helps us know how we are doing. The 2016 survey indicated, once again, that the respondents are happy with TMLP rates and reliability, and that we're doing a great job keeping the power and internet on in their homes and businesses. We know our customers are more engaged than ever before and are able to take advantage of opportunities not available just a few years ago. They can easily monitor and control their energy consumption thanks to smart thermostats and mobile apps, they can pay their bill online and/or receive an electronic version of their bill, and they can, and will, play a direct role in reshaping our future load.

TMLP has a responsibility to its customers to make smart choices while adapting to our changing industry and a changing world. The distributed generation and fast-start peaking generation projects will both ensure that TMLP will be efficient and reliable well into the future, as will the four solar farms and the proposed community solar farm. So, too, will the ongoing expansion and buildout of internet services meet our future demands and the ever-changing needs of our customers.

TMLP staff work hard to provide the level of service our customers expect. Not only do our customers expect the lights to turn on when they flip the switch, or the internet to take them to the world outside their window, they also expect to continue to be able to pay their bill on line, or hear a courteous and helpful customer-oriented member of the TMLP staff at the other end of their phone.

And making sure that we meet - and exceed - those expectations is something that won't change.
